The Pop Up Emporium - takeover by Suzan from MAKÜ UK

Our Small Business Interviews are back and this time we have a twist as Suzan from MAKÜ UK is taking over the blog!

Hello – we are MAKÜ UK.

We make slippers, rugs & throws using super-soft sheepskin rescued from fashion industry waste. Pop-Up Emporium have kindly allowed us a ‘friendly take-over’ so we can introduce ourselves… We’re newbies having only launched in Spring’21 & are very excited to be part of Pop-Up Emporium’s events this year!

Our ethos is ‘MAKE USE, NOT WASTE’ and knowing the amount of perfectly usable new material that is disgarded during the current fashion industry production process, we decided to put our creative skills to good use.

Our growing range of slippers & rugs are all created by craftsman as handmade limited editons. We work with the amount of sheepskin we can source in a particular style or colour which then determines the number of items we produce per batch. Everything is designed so even the smallest of leather or sheepskin off-cuts are utilised at some point in the production chain.

The huge amount of positive feedback we have received from customers already makes us even more determined to continue ‘making use of waste’.

We are constantly adding more editions of our popular Merdana & Zenna slippers, as well as brand new products to our online shop. You can find out more & also shop for products on our website maku.uk. Do sign up for updates via our home page – you’ll be the first to know about all our events, new stock & special offers!

We will also be taking part in various markets across SE England & are very excited about our first Pop-Up Emporium event at the State Hall, Hastings on 4th July! We will have our latest slipper ranges & some new items for your home too. Do come along to say hello & grab yourself a bargain – there will be some special offers on the day, including end of batch clearance slippers.

We are really looking forward to meeting everyone in the real world – see you on Sunday 4th July!

Thank you Suzan, it's been lovely to chat and hear more about MAKÜ UK today!
